What are the most common boiler issues?

A commercial boiler that is broken or malfunctioning can be a real nightmare for any business. If you rely on your boiler to heat your office or business premises, then you know how your business operations can be disrupted if there is an issue with the boiler. Although commercial boilers are very well constructed, they can still break down if something goes wrong. In this blog, we will point out the most common boiler problems that any business should be aware of.

Leaking fluids

Any leaking fluids from your boiler are always a bad sign. If there’s water leaking from the tank, then it looks likely that the inside of your boiler has corroded. Other reasons for these leaks could be condensation which is common, or a broken expansion tank or pressure relief valve.

Uneven heat distribution

You might have noticed that the heat in your office isn’t being distributed evenly. This is a very annoying issue, as certain areas may feel cold while others are too hot. Uneven heat distribution could mean you need to change your zone control settings. These settings will vary depending on the design of the office and whether certain sections are carpeted or have hardwood flooring.

Strange noises

If your boiler is making strange noises and sounds like a whistling kettle, it could mean that the water pressure is too low or there’s an excessive limescale build-up. Both of these scenarios can lead to internal pressure build-up over time.

Low or no heat production

There are a range of reasons as to why your boiler may not producing enough heat. It could be due to dirty burners which are blocking the heat from getting through. When your boiler is serviced, these burners can be checked and cleaned.

Other potential boiler issues

Other causes of low heat could be a broken thermostat, faulty ignition, broken pump or faulty safety switch. Calling in an expert is the only way to get to the bottom of the problem.
